Artist´s Statement
Forough Absalan an interdisciplinary textile-artist based in Berlin and Oslo, Her work is rooted in traditional craft practices, particularly focusing on local hand-made textile techniques. She integrates and manipulates such crafting methods to embody the tone of her artwork. Her work takes a critical view of social and cultural identity , decolonization and ecofeminist discourse, often applying concepts from folklore mythology and literature. Her practice seeks to bridge the gap between the traditional and the contemporary, with a particular emphasis on the cultural and
historical narratives of the Zagros mountain nomads in Sothwest Iran.
