"I’m looking forward to explore the farm and its surroundings through my artistic practice.
During the last year I have been working outside, bringing in the landscape as an
inspiration in my aquarelle painting and embroidery, and I will continue to explore this way
of working at Søndre Green. I will also develop my ongoing work with tapestry – a
practice where the inspiration comes from my inner images rather than surroundings. I
will explore whether a rhythm of meditation during the residency period will deepen this
intuitive process.."
Artist´s Statement
Ida Westberg works with weaving, dyeing, embroidery and spatial installations. Often a
specific color is a starting point of her works. She has an intuitive process where the
motifs emerge while she weaves. For the installations she dyes textiles with plants to
ground herself in nature. Both plant dyeing and weaving are processes that take time:
Westberg is interested in this slow process and the contact that may occur between
thought, hand and material.
